That’s a good point LL, but my main concern (as always) is to ensure that “if” (and that’s a big if) we can make a logical determination that this person might not be honest with us and want in for various reasons, then we should alway error on the side of caution for our members sake.
The problem with that thinking is in a earlier post where we almost kept a guy out when it turns our he is one of the people under the Tuttle bridge. I never want to keep anyone out that needs our support. However, this is what the membership committee is all about. I also have just today been informed that there are 2 new additions to that committee and that should help out when we make the informed decision “not” to let a person in.
I wish there was a good way to tell who needs to be here and who does not.

Yes, I’m a sex offender.
I also have a close friend who is a therapist that is thinking about starting a support group for friends and family members of sex offenders. She’s been persecuted for her relationship with me–getting fired 5 years ago for attempting to defend me in court, (she was virtually hired by the prosecution) and more recently being harrassed (with false accusations, which took thousands of dollars for her innocence to be proven) by one of her neighbors who’s is a cop that likes running license plates of anyone that visits her and her husband. She’s also had some clients who have relatives convicted of sexual crimes. After experiencing what she and her husband have suffered because of myself and her knowledge of other clients who also are abused for being associated with sex offenders; she’s been seriously thinking about starting a support group.
I joined the TX state and national chapters of SOSEN’s yahoo groups, over a year ago, (I think) but I wasn’t an active member–just “lurked”. Obviously it’s been several months since I’ve been on. However, after the latest incident with the eager police officer, I reminded her about SOSEN, and decided to go back to the group to show her; I found that some changes had been made and I needed to join this group.
I’m sure she’ll be wanting to sign up too… but in any case, I was hoping to get access to the forum again. For one thing, group therapy is very hard to live with (if not for my close friends–it would be intolerable… in fact I know other sex offenders who get help with their own psychotherapists just to help them deal with brain washing that goes on in group)… so, sometimes I’ve found it reassuring, to log in to a forum of people who seem to understand that not all sex offenders are monsters.

SamSpade does what is called a Whois lookup, all that will tell you is where the owner of the IP number is located… i am on cox.net in OK, but a Whois (or SamSpade) will tell you Atlanta GA… DNS (Domain Name System) Lookup is better for location, you can do them online at several places:
