Ok, I decided to write them one last time before I ask all of you to write. Below is the letter I sent. We need to have these people on our side!!

—————————————————————————————-
Hello again. I wrote about 5 weeks ago. My name is Michael Finley. I am the Secreaty of SOSEN.INC, a non-profit orginazation that advocates positive sex offender policies and programs that include accountability, fair sentencing, and supportive community reintegration strategies.

I am very sure that you see the new media an read the papers. We are a class of society that is having our constutional rights taken away every time a lawmaker was to further his or her career.

I gave you some information about what is happening to us the last time that I wrote. Since that time the Georgia Supream Court declared the 1000 foot residential restriction unconstitutional. That is because a few Offenders were able hire a lawyer to start the case and finishi it through the appeals process.

The majority of us cannot afford representation. Every one of us needs representation throught the United States. We are citizens of the U.S. The prison detainees are not the only people that are denied their 1st and 5th amendment rights.

Please get back with me on this issue. We have a weekly board meeting every Sunday afternoon. I would like to be able to tell the board that we have commmunicated in the near future.

I cannot let this go. If you were in this catagory with us, you would understand how badly we need someone to stand up for us. Please get back in touch with me.

Respectfully and sincerly,

Michael H. Finley

I tried them the first 2 times. They did not answer me at all. I figure that if all our members write them at the above link AND we all use the same subject (the 1st) on AND keep on writing till we get a response and dialog going with them…..then we can stop. But we need mass emails to get their attention. This is our next step.

Let’s be patient. This is sort of like a job hunt. Let’s follow up from all angles. Try to find out who makes decisions on which cases to take, etc.

Here’s more food for thought. Barry Scheck at the Innocence Project is another lawyer we want on our side. He is a principle at this Project in New York, part of NYU’s law school I think. He is the guy who represented defendant in Grisham’s The Innocent Man. Great book btw–I couldn’t read it until now, but it’s out in paper, and I couldn’t put it down once I started it.

too cold to work…
