At SOSEN, as in most RFSO support groups we have members who are in varying places in their lives. We have members who are fairly new to having the RSO problems in their lives and also new to RFSO support groups. These members are often confused, a bit scared, and are looking for answers and support and help. There are members who have been long time support group members and have been fighting the fight and are tired and angry, and at the end of their rope, and need the same support.
We have members who are anxious to WORK to change the current way the RSO is treated and viewed in our Society, and others who cannot do that but need to belong to a support group and have the peace of mind to know and hear from others who are fighting. All of these and other reasons for belonging to SOSEN are fine. We are so very happy to be here for ALL of you.
Many of you have asked that there not be problems aired on the yahoo boards for the very reason that you came here for support or to work and were not interested in behind the scenes problems. This is what we have been working very hard to do. It has been very difficult because Shirley has been emailing many of our members and writing in other places and also threatening management that she is planning to “attack” by speaking publicly about “what happened”.
We still kept quiet, for our members. She has stepped up the attacks now that we have moved our SOSEN web site. Shirley “owned” the previous one, on SOSEN’s behalf, but she owned it. She offered to sell it to us first for $700.00 then for a very firm $500.00. We researched what her costs for this would have been and came up with a very generous offer of $170.00. As has become usual for Shirley in the last few months, she would offer the sale, then take the offer
back and say it was not for sale. She would not even discuss a compromise in the price or give us our requested itemized bill so we could make sense of the inflated price.
This would have put a major dent in the donation money our members had donated and we had saved, which we finally got back from Shirley’s account where she kept it. As an aside, this is the same money Shirley, when she brought these problems into National to begin with, accused management of taking from her and we denied it. So you see there is more proof that we were telling you the truth.
Instead of spending $500.00 paying Shirley for the Web site, and being at her changing whim as tho whether she would sell or not, we decided to move our web site to a new location. This whole thing cost us a whopping $17.00. We saved SOSEN $450.00 and a lot of aggravation and security issues.
Now the Management of SOSEN finds itself continuously in the position of defending itself against the untruths that Shirley keeps spreading. We have not responded to her goading since the night she brought this to National, because many of our members requested that we not air this in the forums. In order to accomplish this we have had to place Shirley on Moderation because she kept posting the garbage. We allowed innocent posts but kept the arguing out of SOSEN. Now she has a few other members of her new “group” posting things to start an argument. We quickly put them on moderation. We did this ONLY to keep arguments out of SOSEN as our members requested. We do NOT routinely put members on moderation. We will continue to allow innocent responses and posts from these few people, but not ones perpetuating an argument. We wanted our members to
understand that.
Last night Shirley posted in ROAR, a post filled with fabrication. Many of our members are members of ROAR also, so this is an effective way of reaching SOSEN without being allowed to post her argumentative posts here.
We find ourselves being increasingly being tried in the public arena. It is like when the media grabs hold of something and won’t let go and only tells one side of the story. We ALL know what that
is like. We continue to want to honor our members’ request that this not be brought out in National, but it is getting harder and harder not to respond to these false statements. Those of our members who are getting private emails from Shirley and are reading her fabrications in Roar, we ask that you contact management of SOSEN if you have any questions or are concerned. Other than that, we are going to continue to ignore her fabrications and smears on management’s reputation for the greater good.
A rumour without a leg to stand on will get around some other way.
